Those Muslims who are residents of USA or UK has to work best possible way to bring a change. They know which method is better and which will only lead to confrontation. What ISNA , CARE and other organizations are doing is to do it gradually and see no wisdom in knee jerk reaction. They think that it is better to get involve and correct and I agree with their apporach. What Muslims needs in these states is to get empowered politically , socially to have thier say in the matters relatedto thier country. At the same time they should criticise whatever wrong is being done by their current administration and they are doing it Mashallah.
My comments:
We are indeed obligated to follow Islaam (meaning the Qur’an, Sunnah, and all evidences that follow).
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) says in the hadeeth, " I left two things, you will never go astray if you stay attached to them; they are the Book of Allah (The Holy Quran) and the Sunnah of His messenger (The traditions of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him)."
"Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the praise of Allah." Al-Ahzab (33-21).
The Messenger of Allah (saw) said "Every action not based on our instruction is rejected" He (saw) also said "Truly, Allah has decreed some obligations, so do not neglect them, and He has forbidden certain matters, so do not perpetrate them, and He established some boundaries, so do not violate them" He (saw) also said "Whosoever introduces an innovation to this matter of ours, it must be rejected"
"When they are told to follow the (Revelation) that Allah has sent down, they say: "Nay, we shall follow the ways that we found our fathers (following)." What! even if it is Satan beckoning them to the Penalty of the (Blazing) Fire?" Luqman (31-21)
I am quite familiar with those organizations that you mentioned, for I have grown up in the U.S.
Brother, what we must remember is that no organization or person can stand before Allah on the day of judgment for us, every leader/organization that claims to be Islaamic, must have a evidence from Islaam.
I personally know many of those involved in those organizations (ISNA, ICNA, CAIR, and others) that you mentioned.
Essentially those organizations you mentioned were set up by immigrant Muslims to America in response to a growing number of Muslims.
They were set up to accommodate Muslim desire for Islaam; there is no doubt about that. But, the question remains, is Islaam anything that we desire to make it? Can we have an American Islaam? What is an American Islaam in the first place?
Honestly, there is no strategy that will be accepted if it is not in accord with what the messenger (saw) brought. And really, there is no strategy that these organizations have other than trying to be American Muslims.
What do I mean by American Muslim? A Muslim who fits into the pluralistic notions of democracy and freedom. Pluralism means that we will not confront other religions, but seek common ground and interfaith.
It means that we ill refer to this as “Our country” (America), although it is bombing, killing, raping, etc. our brothers and sisters around the globe.
It means that we will approach the issue, as a matter of foreign policy change, “Just be as fair with the Muslims as you are to Israel.” Although U.S. has stated that Israel is a matter of “National Interest” and cannot be touched.
Almost never will be mentioned a worldwide unity of a true Islaamic State, for this would directly undermine the U.S. Do you think that they want to see such a state? The West are the ones who broke up the Ottoman State in the first place and spoke of it as the “Sick Man of Europe.”
There is no strategy, if you sincerely believe this you may be:
1. Very naïve (Because a Muslim authority says it, it must be true)
2. Lacking in understanding of the reality of how States operate, especially under the geopolitical situation.
3. Misunderstand the Sunnah, our obligation to follow the method of our prophet (saw).
4. Do not have a complete picture of prophet Muhammad’s struggles against the Kuffar in order to make Islaam dominate.
5. May fail to understand that Islaamic unity is a Must, living under one Amir mu’minun is a must, and implementing Allah’s deen is a must. The Borders are not acceptable that divide us into nation states where Muslims might go to war against his brother/sister.
6. May fail to understand that we are “like a body” when one part is in pain, we all feel the pain.
Again, and I mean this sincerely, there is no strategy that they have from Islaam. The only strategy is to allow Muslim to be good docile American Muslims to fit within the democratic pluralists views of the U.S. In fact, if their view were other than this, the U.S., as any state, would not allow them to subvert their system (democracy, pluralism, capitalism) right under their noses.
The so-called “good” that they do (helping us to be good American Muslims, loyal to your government) contradicts being revolutionary, dynamic, and united as one world wide Ummah under one State.
Allah says:
O Prophet! Truly We have sent thee as a Witness, a Bearer of Glad Tidings, and a Warner, And as one who invites to Allah's (Grace) by His leave, and as a Lamp spreading Light" Al-Ahzab (33,45-46) .
Ibn Abbas says that the "Lamp spreading light" is the Holy Quran. and then Allah says "Then give the glad tidings to the Believers, that they shall have from Allah a very great Bounty." The believers are indeed the workers to establish this deen on earth by their work to establish the Islamic State. Allah then says "And obey not (the behests) of the Unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and heed not their annoyances, but put thy trust in Allah. For enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.” .
