Imam Abu Hanifa has regarded khilafah as Ummul-Faraid(Mother of all faraid) and Imam Shafi has regarded it to be Fard -Asaasi ( basis Fard).
Imam Al-juzeri who is an expert on all four schools(shaf'i,Hanafi,Hanbali,Maliki) writes in his book Al -Mazahib-Al-Arba that all four Imams agree that Khilafah is an obligation ,and that the muslims must at all times have a khaleef who can look after their affairs.
