Corrupting Islam
It is clear to the world, that the West, ‘democracy’ and ‘freedom’ is now indelibly drenched with Muslim blood, oil and resources. These Western concepts will always be synonymous with the cynical manipulation of international bodies, persecution, and barbarism beyond Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay, the application of insanity as a tool of torture in Belmarsh Prison United Kingdom, murder in Bagram airbase, extra judicial killings by remote control by Israel and the CIA - all acts of the very worst kind from the depths of the kufr and the kufr civilisation. 120,000 innocent Muslim lives later however, the West is beginning to realise, that Islam cannot be defeated by mass murder alone. And so the West has had to return to the old orientalist game of corrupting Islam from within. They are now pushing a more Western-friendly version of Islam. one that smiles at all and any atrocity the West might commit. They call it ‘moderate’ Islam.
Initially, the West through Bush’s mouth allowed neither shades of grey nor dissention. The world had to chose either to be ‘with’ America and the West or ‘against’. With that, the West set about to kill as many of the Muslims as possible with a rhetoric and self-righteous fervour of the best of the most bloody crusades and the cruelty of the worst of the inquisitions.
The West’s hatred for Islam once again was manifest.
However, despite the thousands upon thousands of deaths including women and children at the hands of the brave Western and Israeli soldiers, strangely enough, the Islamic Ummah is still refusing to capitulate to the West and worse - still refuses to accept the puppets and way of life America has tried to foist upon them.
Thus, they have now resorted to a more subtle method of war - using ‘their’ Muslims to fight the rest of the Islamic Ummah. Western media is now beginning to talk about the ‘silent majority’ of Muslim ‘moderates’ (who apparently don’t really mind what’s happening in Iraq and are generally pleased with the occupation. And oh, don’t forget of course that it was justified to spill Muslim blood so as to liberate their oil from Saddam, for a better way of (western) life. Moderates, groups and concepts are sprouting like mushroom whilst the bombs and bullets continue to rain down upon the Islamic Ummah across the world. These western collaborators are busy pushing the ‘moderate’ ideas of cooperation, acceptance, tolerance etc. whilst the West gets on with the business of pillaging and occupation.
The ‘moderate’ movement is wrapped up in apparently good and sensible things such as ‘modernity’, ‘progress’, ‘women’s rights’, ‘right to chose’, ‘freedom’ dressing it as part of living in the modern life and being part of the Western family. Thus Islam is being pushed to ‘reform’ as Christianity had to earlier. And now the west has a new reason for Islam to reform – the war against terrorism.
The browbeaten tone of Ziauddin Sardar’s article is typical. ‘Can Islam Change’ (13/09/04) begins, ‘Beslan and 9/11 are leading millions of Muslims to search their souls. Even clerics now question the harshest traditional laws and look for a more humane interpretation of their faith.
The Muslim world is changing. Three years after the atrocity of 9/11, it may be in the early stages of a reformation, albeit with a small “r”…
Moderate Islam is expected not to resist any invasion or oppression the West visits upon our Ummah – passivity even in the face of unjust aggression. Sharon’s latest slaughter of children in Palestine, the massacre of Muslim youth in Thailand through ‘suffocation’ even though many of the pictures of the murdered show that their faces had been battered almost beyond recognition. Such ‘moderates’ would not only have the Islamic Ummah stay silent on this, they would have us applaud these as being ‘justified’ actions by the west against ‘terrorism’. We are expected to accept the west’s imposition of their corrupted and oppressive way of life over ourselves. In fact, the U.S. and U.K. would be most happy if they could rewrite the Qur’an (and Islam) in their own image - indeed, this is precisely what they are doing in the Middle East through their proxy puppet rulers as well as directly in their lands that they now occupy. Islamic and school curricula are all being modified to remove the structural concepts and thoughts from Islam - that call for Jihad, the Khilafah, for Unity of the Islamic Ummah, a call to arms for our own defence. The ideal ‘Muslim’ to the West would be one that ‘didn’t take Islam too seriously, pray if you wanted to, fast perhaps but nothing else’. Better still if he drank and generally do as the kuffar do. In short, if he wasn’t Muslim.
Islam on the back foot?
Implicit in these claims are of course that true Islam (as brought to us by Rasulullah SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM) is the converse of moderate Islam i.e. ‘primitive’, ‘oppresses women’, Islam is full of dictators and generally miserable. These are lies. What’s more, the kuffar are aware that these are lies. It must be pointed out that the very reformation of Christianity and enlightenment of was brought about, ironically, in the face of the advances and discoveries of the Islamic civilisation when it existed as a system of life. The very technological advances the West is so proudly using against the Muslims are built upon the discoveries, developments and advancements of the Islamic civilisation.
In fact, Kamal ‘Attaturk’ the British agent, destroyed the Khilafah and proclaimed that he ‘modernised’ Turkey by discarding Islam. Turkey has never recovered from this humiliation.
Women were given rights from the very beginning of Islam indeed they were given the right to choose and vote for their leaders long before the West ever treated women as anything other than chattle. The United Kingdom today for example, for all the freedom and rights it gives women, still sees a high number of abused women, one of the highest rates of divorce, in the world. It also has the distinction of having one of the highest rates of sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancies amongst teenagers in the world. Not to mention the tragedy of single mothers who are forced to take on both the role of mother and father. As for ‘freedom’ and ‘democracy’ Muslims from Chechnya, to Kashmir, to Palestine, Afghanistan and Iraq know only too well, what it means.
Notice the way the West tries to couch the whole thing as if Islam should be on the defensive. Despite the crimes they have perpetrated upon the Islamic Ummah and the rest of the world. Notice how the ‘moderates’ take the western lies without question and as fact? This is an old orientalist trick.
Notice also Sardar and others like him do not expect Capitalism and the West to ‘reform’ be it with a small or large ‘r’ at the slaughter of half a million Iraqis during the period of economic sanction nor the tens of thousands who perished in Afghanistan and Iraq. Nor the murder of 13 year-old Palestinian girls by pumping whole magazines of bullets into their heads.
Misguiding through misinterpretation
Shari’ah linguistically means the endless source of water from which the people quench their thirst. It is therefore the endless source of guidance for the life of humankind. It is testimony to the dynamism of Islam that various opinions and rulings can arise from the same Shar'ii evidences. That infinite hukms and solutions to all of humankind’s problems could emanate from a finite amount of text is testimony to the Truth of this Deen.
However it is this very capacity that the kuffar hope to exploit to achieve the division and thus ‘neutralise’ the Islamic Ummah.
The reasons brought forward for a new fiqh or reinterpretation of Islam are many – for example they say that they require a new fiqh because of their status as minorities in the Western countries. Or sometimes they claim that they require a fiqh to suit the ‘modern’ times. Or a new fiqh to suit a particular country e.g. an American or British fiqh. And now, they bring it in the name of the ‘war against terrorism (Islam)’.
These are all invalid reasons. The Hukm does not change due to circumstance, time or place. It provides for every circumstance, time and place. The reality of the life is that humankind’s nature has not changed through the ages, he still eats, drinks, has children, and requires food clothing and shelter. The interactions between human beings remain the same, be it at the individual, societal or international scale. What changes are their circumstances – for example in terms of the means of transportation, communication, weapons methods of waging war and so on. The Shari’ah addresses the man’s actions, and his relationships be it with himself, with others and the creation, as well as his relationship with Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. These do not change. Thus there is no need for a ‘new’ Islam, or a new fiqh of Islam.
Valid differences of opinion in Islam can arise due to many reasons permitted by Shara’a. It could be due to differences in the practice of Qiyas (analogy), or criteria in the evaluation of the Sunnah, or differences in the criteria of the legislative sources (e.g. different Ijma) or even differences in the other legislative sources or indeed even differences in the interpretation of the source text itself. There could also be differences in the methodology of usul ul fiqh or even in the understanding of the Arabic language. For so long as it is based on a valid Islamic daleel (evidence from source text) it could with confidence be taken as an Islamic opinion. However facilitating kufr does NOT constitute a valid reason in Islam.
‘Moderate’ Islam could only be justified by abusing the
process, and violating the principles of Usul ul Fiqh. Thus they attack usul ul fiqh. Sardar betrays his contempt for it in the same article he writes, ‘Much of the attention is focused on reformulating the sharia, the centuries-old body of Islamic law deeply embedded in a medieval psychology ‘
However for any who understands the usul ul fiqh (methodology for the extraction of fiqh or Islamic laws) it becomes clear how studied and precise the process is. The extraction of hukm has a defined methodology (usul ul fiqh) within which the opinion becomes a valid Islamic opinion. Otherwise it is rejected. The principle in Islam is that, the hukm is taken from the Shari’ah of Islam just as the evidences for justification (daleel) must come from the Shara’. The law isn’t taken from the limited mind of man (be it from Al Azhar, London or Washington), nor is the Shari’ah to be used to justify the pronouncement afterwards.
There is nothing medieval about Islam and everything barbaric about the so-called Western civilisation we witness today. The Islam that the West and their collaborators would have us swallow, would not be recognised by the Sahabi radhiallahu anhum who conveyed it to us.
Discard the deception
The very phrase ‘moderate’ Islam or any of it’s manifestations, ‘American Islam’ or ‘British Islam’ or ‘Islam Hadhari of Malaysia – ‘Islam (Abdullah) Badawi’ are all false bizarre manifestations of Islam, omitting some of the aspects the enemies of Islam find less palatable. They all shift the focus of Islam from a global ideology, to one of a personal religion. They shift the focus from carrying the Deen of Tauhid to the world, to one of achieving economic ‘success’. They corrupt and reduce the idea of one Ummah into one of many ‘nations’. They corrupt the Deen of Islam to make it into a plaything of the kuffar. Khilafah and Jihad of course is all but non existent in it’s original form. War is only justified for the kuffar. And the only form of ruling acceptable is of course the kuffur of man made systems. All this in the name of pleasing the enemies of Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’ala). All in the name of seeking the acceptance of the West.
The concepts and ideas being attacked and replaced are the vital concepts to do with the divinely revealed structure of the Islamic Ummah, the need for unity under Islam, the need for Jihad in the face of the enemy, the need for the comprehensive and exclusive implementation of Islam. They attack the very principle that we are to live by Al Islam alone, and to submit to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala alone. No other, man, nation, law other than Islam.
It is well known, that Islam forbids the division of the Ummah and her lands. It is well known that Islam calls for Jihad against the occupier. It is well known, that we are to submit to no other save Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’ala), it is well known that we are to submit to no other law save Islam.
The kuffar are trying to force schisms amongst us so as to paralyse the Ummah with these false ideas. There is no need to downplay, emphasis or reconstitute Islam. Islam is one Deen, with one book and one Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam that came to us to explain, detail and implement the Deen.
Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says,
This day I have perfected your Deen, completed my favour upon you,
And have chosen Islam as your Deen
[T.M.Q. Al Ma’ida:3]
Islam came to change all. It will never change. It comes to answer all issues, and all the changing circumstances of man. It is a Deen for all and for all time.
