Summer Intensive Arabic Course

Course Background
An in-depth grammatical study of the language underpins the overall course, and sufficient vocabulary is provided to aid students in the forming of sentences. Students will be required to translate texts from Arabic to English and vice-versa on a daily basis, which will provide them, ultimately, with a firm understanding of and appreciation for the language.
The course is ideal for beginners, those wishing to increase confidence from previous learning, and anyone in need of more grammar and syntax practice.
NOTE: Prospective students must be capable of reading the Arabic script and be 16 years of age or over. Due to nature of premises, this course is only open to a maximum of ten brothers. Book early to avoid disappointment.

About the Course
The 40 hour course will cover the following topic areas:
* Basic nominal/verbal sentences
* Gender
* Declension of nouns and verbs
* Number - masculine and feminine plurals
* The 'Idafah' construction (possession)
* Attached and demonstrative pronouns
* Adjectives
* The verb form
* How to use an Arabic-English dictionary
The course will be taught everyday over a two-week period al-Muzzammil mosque.
Students will benefit from full-time support provided outside of lessons, via telephone and e-mail contact, for the entire duration of the course.
At the end of the course, successful students will befamiliar with general grammatical structures and syntax, and be confidently able to read simple Arabic texts using a dictionary. They should be able to progress to learning easily abroad or at a more advanced level.
Course Fee
£75.00
The fee covers tuition, supplementary material and full-time support for the duration of the course.
About the teacher
The teacher has a first class Arabic BA from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.
He has studied in Syria for two years covering in Arabic grammar and its related fields: al-Durūs al-Nahwiyya, al-Ājrūmiyya, al-cAwāmil of al-Jurjānī, Qatr al-Nadā and Sharh Ibn cAqīl. He has also studied balāgha (the science of Arabic rhetoric) and the famous series of pre-Islamic poetry, al-Mucallaqāt.
He has also studied Islamic subjects including Tajwīd, Fiqh, Usool al-Fiqh and Hadeeth terminology.
