As-salam alaikum,
The following is taken from the book "Pakistan Eye of the Storm" by Owen Bennet Jones regarding Pakistan's Feudal's resistance to education...page 244:
"It is also beyond dispute that some feudal landowners have held on to their authority by blocking the government's attempts to foster social and economic development in their areas. In his memoirs, Lt. General (Retd.) Attiqur Rahman recalled a visit he made to the nawab of Dir, a major landowner in NWFP:
When the government sent him an educationalist to offer all help and provide schools the Nawab said nothing. He changed the subject and said they would go for a duck shoot the next morning. This was in the middle of winter and it can be very cold in the early mornings. The Nawab shot a duck and told his followers to collect it, at which about thirty jumped into the water. The Nawab then turned to the educationalist and said: 'If I educated my people, not one of these men would have gone into the water to fetch the duck.'
==============================
I look forward to reading comments on the above, about the revival of the ummah in relation to such feudals and their control, in relation to education and in relation to the willingness of those in power to empower the ummah.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem,
Al-Qur'an Al-kareem is an enlightened book, which challenges us to think about our existence then come to the conclusion rationally that Islaam is from Allah.
Islaam thus becomes the basis of our thinking and actions.
This is the way to revival and dignity for the Ummah, any other way both individually or collectively leads to misery and humiliation in this life as well as the next.
Allah says that..."Allah does not change the condition of a people until they have changed that which is within themselves [13:11]"
We act based on our thoughts about life.
Many of those who converted to Islaam or came to practice Islaam after not practicing understand this point personally in our lives.
This is the same is collective as an ummah I believe.
The above example that was given by Islamic Revival illustrates the control over the people. But how? Over there way of thinking that is how.
We are only dignified, when we think as men and women. We only know what this is by what Allah has defined, which is to be courageous in submitting ourselves only to Allah subhanawa'ala.
“For you all who worship idols instead of Allah, and invent falsehood. Those who worship other things Instead of Allah, they have no ability to provide you with Rizq. So seek rizq from Allah, worship Him, and be thankful to Him. To Him you will return.” [29:17]
Now speaking in terms of education…historically the Master has never wanted to slave to be educated for this will lead to independent thinking which is a treat to the Master’s grip over the people. So it is quite logical for the Pak gov. in its efforts to contain the people not to allow them that which could lead to their demise. The American slavery history was full of laws and measures to prevent the slaves from learning. In fact if a slave was caught, he would be severely beaten or killed.
Kufr Governments keep their citizens un-informed, brainwashed, and in fear never to the people’s benefit.
As part of this revival, which has a method defined by Allah is to speak the Haqq and point out the oppression of the rulers to wake the Ummah up.
Rasulullah (saw) attacked the burying of the female infants alive (devaluing of a woman’s life) cheating the scales, usury, etc., and actually gave benefit to freeing of slaves, freeing the poor, educating Muslims.
Who of us can forget the agreement he made with some prisoners of war to teach a Muslim how to read?
Islaam is the intellectual revival for the Ummah and humankind in general both individually and collectively.
well those are my thoughts, I would like to hear from others as well.
Was-salaam
