salaams,
I received the following email from a friend:
Assalaamu-'alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuh
We acknowledge the receipt of your query and our response is as follows:-
We should remember that our object must not only be to establish and Islamic State, resulting in forgetting priorities such as rectification of our beliefs and doing righteous deeds. If the Muslim nation concentrates on these priorities, Allâh Ta’âlâ will Insha-Allah automatically make the Muslims inheritors of His lands upon the earth. Hence, for a group to say that “deeds and belief will not get you an Islamic state” is being naïve.
The Quraanic Aayah cited below clearly proclaims that Allâh Ta’âlâ has promised inheritance of the earth to those servants of His who bring proper faith and do righteous deeds. It is strong Imaan and righteous deeds that will attract the Mercies and Favours of Allâh Ta’âlâ, resulting in Islâmic autonomy being established on earth. Once that comes about, then it will become incumbent that the Muslims have an Imâm, i.e. an Ameer to lead and guide them. His job will be to administrate the affairs of the Muslims, prevent conflict between them, enforce the Islâmic Penal Code and attend to the military defence of the Islâmic borders etc. Thereafter he must be obeyed within the bounds of Shari’ah, failing which there are grave warnings.
Allah Ta’aala mentions in the Holy Quraan:-
æóÚóÏó Çááøóåõ ÇáøóÐöíäó ÂãóäõæÇ ãöäßõãú æóÚóãöáõæÇ ÇáÕøóÇáöÍóÇÊö áóíóÓúÊóÎúáöÝóäøóåõã Ýöí ÇáúÃóÑúÖö ßóãóÇ ÇÓúÊóÎúáóÝó ÇáøóÐöíäó ãöä ÞóÈúáöåöãú æóáóíõãóßøöäóäøó áóåõãú Ïöíäóåõãõ ÇáøóÐöí ÇÑúÊóÖóì áóåõãú æóáóíõÈóÏøöáóäøóåõã ãøöä ÈóÚúÏö ÎóæúÝöåöãú ÃóãúäðÇ íóÚúÈõÏõæäóäöí áóÇ íõÔúÑößõæäó Èöí ÔóíúÆðÇ æóãóä ßóÝóÑó ÈóÚúÏó Ðóáößó ÝóÃõæúáóÆößó åõãõ ÇáúÝóÇÓöÞõæäó
Translation: Allah has promised those among you who believe, and do righteous good deeds (follows fully the light of guidance sent by Allah Ta’aala), that He will certainly grant them authority in the earth, as He granted it to those before them. And (the object of giving this authority is that) he will grant them strength in their religion, which He has chosen for them (i.e. Islam). And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after their fear (provided) they (believers) worship me and do not associate anything (in worship) with Me. But whoever disbelieved after this, they are the Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).
If we ponder down in history then if take the example of the time of Nabi Sallallahu-Alahi-Wasallam the Khulafa-Rashida etc then we come to see that how Allah Ta’aala has fulfilled this promise. Allah Ta’aala gave the Muslims power over much land and the fear of the enemy no more remained in their hearts. But this only came about after true Imaan was brought and righteous deeds were enacted.
Allah Ta’aala mentions in the Holy Quraan:
Åöäøó Çááøåó áÇó íõÛóíøöÑõ ãóÇ ÈöÞóæúãò ÍóÊøóì íõÛóíøöÑõæÇú ãóÇ ÈöÃóäúÝõÓöåöãú æóÅöÐóÇ ÃóÑóÇÏó Çááøåõ ÈöÞóæúãò ÓõæÁðÇ ÝóáÇó ãóÑóÏøó áóåõ æóãóÇ áóåõã ãøöä Ïõæäöåö ãöä æóÇáò
Translation: Verily! Allah will not change the good condition of a people as long as they do not change their state of goodness themselves. But when Allah wills a people's punishment, there can be no turning back of it, and they will find besides Him no protector.
As far as the meaning of this Aayat goes, it is that Allah Ta’aala does not change the condition of peace and safety of a nation to that of calamity and difficulty until the nation itself does not change its actions and condition to that of evil and corruption. Once the nation veers towards vice and evil, Allâh Ta’âlâ brings upon them calamities and difficulties The implication of this will be that if a nation endeavours to lead a righteous life, then calamities and difficulties will be avoided and a climate of peace and safety will prevail, otherwise not. Hence, this Aayah also emphasises the need for leading a life of true Imaan and good deeds before a climate of safety and peace can prevail under the umbrella of an Islâmic State.
May Allah Ta’aala grant us the correct understanding of Deen Aameen.
AND ALLAH TA'AALA KNOWS BEST.
