As-salam alaikum,
After wasting your own precious time reading a book, post your thoughts here to help other people not to waste their time reading it too.
I'll go first...
I read Hillary Clinton's autobiography recently (Living History). I was expecting some sort of insight into the world of the White House and politics in general.
It was a very disappointing read. I found the book to be extremely calculated. It was all about clearing her husband's name in politics and preparing a platform for her own political aims. No big revelations.
I found her to be narrow-minded too in her approach to understanding world cultures. Like she gave very negative feedback after meeting ex-Pakistani President Farooq Leghari's wife, simply because she covered herself completely and had separate quarters and meetings from the men. Rather than seeing that as a choice made by women in another culture, she could only see it though her own secular/feminist-tinted glasses.
I think the only bit I found interesting was her admission that Bill Clinton thought of Yitzak Rabin as a father figure. We always know about the close relationship of the US administration and Israel, but to read or hear things in black and white is interesting, to say the least.
Has anyone else read this book and formed a different opinion? Would like to hear...
