The Case Of Islam
The case of Islam, from its inception to today, and until the last day, is the same. It never changed and will never do so. The continuous struggle between Muslims and the rest of mankind is a specific character of Islam, and consequently Muslims. Naturally therefore the existence of a sovereignty (or as they say, the State) of Islam is like the soul in the body. Without the Islamic sovereignty (state) there would be no case, and without this sovereignty, the light of Islam will not spread in life and Islam will have no actual existence.
The struggle into which Muslims enter with the rest of mankind is an ideological one, whose tools are material in nature, whether in jihad or in the enforcement of Islamic rules upon mankind. In jihad, people are invited to Islam in a clear and distinct manner before they are given the choice of fighting (or paying jizyah). In the enforcement of Islamic rules, punishment is not imposed except on the fard (i.e. that which every Muslim must do; e.g. prayer) and the prohibited; and it is not imposed before having first being clearly taught. In both cases, it is the ruler himself who leads the nation in jihad and establishes the limits set by Allah. This rulership is a supremacy based on, run by and proceeds hand in hand with the Islamic ideology. It is never easy to stand against the Islamic supremacy, because the combatant's struggle and desired supremacy over Islam is absolutely materialistic in nature, whereas the Islamic struggle and established supremacy is always based on its ideology, Islam. This is the reason why Muslims will always win, even though they might lose a few battles. Perhaps this also reveals the secret as to why the Muslims were ordered (by Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala), to combat a power ten times their own. When this command was eased, Muslims were to combat and not to be outfought by a power twofold theirs. The above commands are not surprising, since the ideological force based upon the Islamic supremacy and the life of the Muslim individual is more powerful than ten times the materialistic power. Obviously, the most important element of struggle into which Muslims have to enter with mankind is its ideological nature, i.e., the ideology upon which the material power is based.
Those who got involved with Muslims in the various bloody struggles during the history of Islam, never realised that the strength of the Islamic Ideology outweighs the material power. That is why they always depended on increasing their material power over the Muslims to defeat them. In spite of this, the Muslims always won, even though they were many times weaker as well as being lesser in number. The accumulated material power had no value in the battlefield. This was the case between the Prophet (s.a.w.) and his companions on the one hand, and the disbelievers on the other. This was also the case between the companions of the Prophet and the Romans, as well as the Persians, and the case between all the disbelievers in Islam who battled against Muslims. Muslims never lost the wars but twice, only twice, the first was against the Crusaders, when the Crusaders attacked first although the Muslims retaliated and won the war. The second spanned the 19th century and ended with the defeat of the Muslims in the first world war.
And now while the entire world is trying to release itself from European dominance, it is natural for the Muslims to try and do the same. The question here is, will it be possible for the world to release itself from this dominance? If so, will the Muslims be able to achieve this goal? This cannot be guaranteed and there is no room for optimism, because the task is now even greater since Europe joined a larger force, namely, America. America and the West are trying to change the methods of dominance by replacing one method of oppression for another. Consequently, the problem of liberation becomes a doubtful matter. It becomes nothing but a whirlpool turning people around to keep them busy, thereby resulting in the West's permanent dominance. For these reasons, it is doubtful whether the world can liberate itself from the West. This applies equally to Muslims as well as non-Muslims, since both move in the same endless spiral. Unfortunately, Muslims also follow the methods of the rest of the world in their fight, which is why their fate will not be any different from the rest of the world endless turns in an empty circle and dwelling on the road which has been prescribed by the West to further it's dominance.
In order to correct their erroneous ways, it is necessary that Muslims must recognise that the case is not just one of liberation from western dominance, it is a reaction against dominance itself, since man refuses enslavement. The Muslims must strive for the propagation of Islam by means of jihad, and enforcing the shari’ah upon people. In other words the correct path is to enter into a struggle with mankind for the purposes of spreading Islam and applying its rules. This is the true path. Muslims have no choice, if they desire to remain true Muslims and a Muslim Ummah.
However, entering into a struggle for this cause, cannot be realised without a state. But it cannot be any state, it has to be the Islamic state. The existence of the Islamic state must come first in order to enter into the struggle with all mankind. The Islamic state is therefore the first step, to be followed immediately by the material struggle. For this reason, all efforts must be concentrated in order to establish the Islamic state. The task of establishing an Islamic state appears to be extremely difficult. If you tell the Muslims that a state is needed, the easy reply will be, there are many already established. Thus, they will claim that there is an Islamic state in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Pakistan, etc. ... But one might ask whether these are true Islamic states?
What kind of power is required to realise an Islamic state? Were it to be born, what kind of power would be needed to protect it from the gigantic rival forces that blindly hate its existence? Would the great powers permit Islamic sovereignty? Would even the present rulers in the so called Islamic states permit the sovereignty of Islam to blossom? This is why the task appears to be formidable for the Muslims. In reality, the sovereignty of Islam in the land of Muslims is much easier to establish than any other sovereignty. This becomes obviously so, when we consider two points, the first being the very nature of sovereignty in general, and the second is the nature of Islamic sovereignty in particular. Firstly sovereignty is naturally built in the nation, specifically, in the stronger section of the nation, thus because the majority of people in any Islamic country are Muslims the establishment of an Islamic sovereignty is relatively easier than in a state where the majority of people are non-Muslims. Secondly, the nature of the Islamic sovereignty requires that a Muslim battles against a force equivalent to ten times his own at the beginning of the establishment of the state and twofold at other times. So for the minority in a country, who take upon themselves the burden of establishing the state, these minorities are capable of defeating a force ten times their’s. They are more able to do so than those who want to establish other sovereignties. What confuses the issue is the thought that the Islamic state has to begin with all Islamic countries at once. They also forget that a Muslim force is commanded to combat tenfold toward the establishment of the state and two fold once established. These two points have been camouflaged, that Muslims think that the establishment of the Islamic authority in their own countries is impossible. It is therefore necessary to remove this misunderstanding and be reminded of the following:
"0 PROPHET! EXHORT THE BELIEVERS TO FIGHT. IF THERE ARE OF YOU TWENTY STEADFAST, THEY SHALL DEFEAT TWO HUNDRED IF A HUNDRED, THEY WILL VANQUISH A THOUSAND OF THE UNBELIEVERS.” (Anfal 8:65)
and we should also be reminded of this verse:
"NOW THAT ALLAH HAS ENLIGHTENED YOUR BURDEN, FOR HE KNOWS THAT THERE IS WEAKNESS IN YOU , SO IF THERE ARE OF YOU A STEADFAST HUNDRED, THEY SHALL DEFEAT TWO HUNDRED..." (Anfal 8:66)
The Islamic sovereignty, needed for the protection of all Muslims should start in any Muslim land (no matter how small), in order to secure a foothold for the struggle against powers ten times its own. Expansion of this foothold is then an indivisible part of its very existence. The very nature of this struggle in establishing and expanding the foothold will definitely lead to raising the flag of Islam over all the Muslim lands again. As soon as Islamic sovereignty is established, the opening of the kufr lands to the light of Islam will take place. As can be seen, the establishment of the Islamic sovereignity is not an impossible task, i.e. it does not need a miracle. There is potential to establish such a state in every Muslim Land, no matter how small it is, the only thing that is needed for a Muslim to practice Islam completely against all odds, is that he should always remember that he can defeat ten times his power as long as there is a creed (aqeedah) in his heart, whose power is ten times his inherent will. With this any Muslim can establish in his country, the foothold of the Muslim Ummah from which the procession starts towards the establishment of the Muslim stated whose folds will then protect all Muslims.
This is the true path i.e. the realisation that the case of Islam is but the spread of Islam in a specific manner, namely al jihad and the enforcement of the Islamic rule by a process entering into a physical struggle with man. Without this path, Muslims can never liberate themselves from the Western dominance, worse still even, there will be no Muslim Ummah.
