Political Analysis
Why And How?
It is well appreciated by political analysts and the versed observers the difficulty of understanding
the political events of the world and the men who have a sharing hand in them. Here, a natural question arises concerning how a political judgment close enough to the truth can be attained. Subseauently a further question immediately follows as to the importance of analysing and viewing such events. Judgment of political events is difficult but even more difficult is to convince the
political observers of this judgement (not to mention the general public). Considering this one may
question whether political analysis is indeed worth all the pain and effort.
Before answering the first question let us confirm that the problem, of the Muslims is political in the first place. Thus understanding political events and the men involved is clearly indispensable for those who want to lead the Muslims in changing thier condition and that of the world. One has to establish whether a ruler is sincere to Allah (s.w.t.) or an agent of some foreign power in order to form our attitudes towards that ruler. Consequently those who do not understand political events cannot lead, but in fact need to be lead.
Needless to say that understanding political events and the men involved becomes naturally more important for those who assume the power of a State and
who seek to play a leading role in the world. This understanding is an essential requirement for drawing a successful detailed policy for the entire world in general and the State in particular. Who assumes the power of such a State plays the role of the creative architect to build from nothing a modern administration that will be a
lodestar for future generations in the art of government.
Political analysis is based on two things: political information and its linkage. The difference of opinion between the analysts arises from difference of their political information and the strength or weakness of their mental ability. Concerning political information, some is related to the international situation and some to the local event sought to be analysed.
The international situation is dependant, at the present time, on the policy of the leading superower, that is the U.S.A. Conseouently it is of great importance to understand and to follow American politics and to observe any change that may overcome it. This requires knowledge of who rules America, those who are
influential in formulating its politics and how it designs its policy. Poltical information can be obtained from the media bearing in mind the difference between the
news and the personal opinion of the reporters, also bearing in mind that some news may be foist.
Although the international situation does not remain at a standstill some of the changes are fundamental and others are not. One such radical change in American politics was the transfer from its cold war policy to a policy of coexistence with the USSR. Some people express views on political events baseless of any evidence or proof. They then begin to interpret what happens in such a way as to agree with their views. This is not political analysis but merely political conjecture and a prediction from the stars, even if the opinion happens to be correct. In case confusion occurs it is more appropriate to stop expressing views until a base line is built up. We with Allah’s help will attempt to build such a base.
